Fyffes acquires William Hinton and Sons in Nottingham.

Neil McCann, succeeds his father Charles McCann as Chief Executive of Charles McCann & Sons Limited and subsequently embarks upon a programme of rationalising Ireland’s fresh produce importation and distribution industry through amalgamations and organic growth.

Fyffes finally achieves the pre war level of banana importation of 305,000 tons.

United Fruit Importers Limited was formed by a number of prominent wholesalers in Dublin.
