- UNICEF has saved the lives of more children around the world than any other humanitarian organization
- Mozambique has one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the word. In Mozambique, an estimated 36,000 children under the age of 5 will die each year because of malaria alone.
- Fyffes 5 year partnership with UNICEF began in 2008 and so far has made a big difference in the fight against malaria. Fyffes have so far provided UNICEF Ireland with 55,000 malaria nets with even more being provided in 2010.
- If children live to the age of five, they may develop immunity and are less likely to die of malaria.
- With Fyffes support UNICEF will provide medical support to 80% of Mozambique’s orphans and vulnerable children suffering from malaria.
- Fyffes will support community theatre and radio programs to spread the awareness and help combat the spread of malaria to children in Mozambique.
