Fyffes Great Banana Bake Off 2021 Winners

The Fyffes Great Banana Bake Off 2021 took place in the build up to National Banana Day on April 21st. Once again we asked the nations amateur bakers to show off their skills in yet another epic battle to crown the Fyffes Great Banana Bake Off Champion for 2021. This year we had a new challenge for competitors and set the task for them to show us their best banana based desserts.

The competition was fierce as expected and we had a total of six categories which were
● Best Junior Baker Aged 12 And Under
● Best Junior Baker Aged 13 – 17
● Best Gluten-Free
● Best Styling
● Best Vegan
● Best Ingredients

Grand Prize Winner and Best Ingredients – Roisin Gallagher 

Each finalist then battled it out for the Fyffes Great Banana Bake Off Grand Prize of €1,000 and the title of 2021 Champion. When the dust settled it was Roisin Gallagher from Drumcondra in Dublin who emerged as our winner with her truly amazing Banana and Caramel Layer Cake which had also taken the Best Ingredients category.

Best Junior Baker Age 12 and Under – Clíodhna Mulkearns

The winner of Best Junior Baker Age 12 and Under was 11 year old Clíodhna Mulkearns from Letterkenny in County Donegal. Clíodhna caught the judges eye with a brilliant video which
showed off her presentation skills as well as her cookery skills.

Best Junior Baker Age 13 – 17 – Claire Griffin

Claire Griffin aged 15 from Skibbereen in County Cork was the winner of Best Junior Baker Age 13 -17. Claire made a stunning Chocolate-Hazelnut Caramel Cake which was also vegan and
gluten-free and was shortlisted in multiple categories.

Best Gluten-Free – Brianna Turner

The Best Gluten-Free category was won by Brianna Turner from Ennistymon in County Clare. Brianna’s Bananarama Foster Cake was a variation on New Orleans Banana Foster and was also in
contention in the Best Styling and Best Ingredients categories.

Best Styling – Alline Isense Dalpiaz

Alline Insense Dalpiaz was the winner in the Best Styling category with her beautifully presented Banana Brownie and Dark Chocolate Ganache. Brazillian born Alline moved to Killorglin three
years ago and was also shortlisted in the Best Vegan category. 

Best Vegan – Kirsten Meehan

The Best Vegan category also saw fierce competition with many amazing creations shortlisted but it was Kirsten Meehan from Canada and living in Dublin who took the top spot with her Vegan
Caramel Banana Cake which was also shortlisted in the Best Styling category.

Congratulations to all our category winners. The #FyffesGBBO21 had some truly amazing entries and picking the grand prize winner was a difficult task for our celebrity judge Donal Skehan. We are very pleased to crown Roisin as the Grand Prize Winner of The Fyffes Great Banana Bake Off 2021 ?
